True.

I'm the one with the problem.

Dog-owners don't seem to have any problem here.

I need to avoid dogs. I get sick from their dander. I have to avoid them, and because many dogs are friendly/aggressive, I have to avoid them more.

And then some dog owners say dogs "respond aggressively" when they see I'm avoiding them, and "instinctively give chase" when I run from them. Which does not make me feel any safer around dogs or around people who willingly keep dogs.

I often have to backtrack long distances, or take long detours, when walking places, because I need to avoid dogs and some dog-owners insist on bringing dogs everywhere.

Even when I'm trying to relax where dogs aren't allowed, I often get surprised or even cornered unable to escape, because I need to avoid dogs and some dog-owners insist on bringing dogs everywhere.

If we need to avoid dogs, and there are dogs everywhere, we may begin to fear the unfortunate creatures.

I am severely allergic to dogs, so I need to avoid dogs, and there are dogs everywhere, so I have begun to fear dogs and to get panic attacks from the presence.

If you don’t respect the few spaces which are supposed to be free from dogs, and you bring your dogs in there, and you corner people with your dogs there, you only add to our fear.

I don't really want to talk about my fear of dogs and my panic attacks. It might help explain things though. It involves some graphic imagery.

So I think my subconscious interprets the horror as immediate danger from dogs.
