I believe that we must do more to treat autism and to investigate its causes. It is particularly tragic that the incidence of autism seems to be increasing dramatically while we do not have sufficient understanding of what causes the illness. We must pursue an aggressive research agenda to identify causes of autism while continuing to support better treatment for autism victims.
How on earth do you reach these people and make it clear that no, we do not want them to exterminate us, no, we do not regard ourselves as victims of our selfhood, no, no, NO!
Hate to quibble, but...

Date: 2014-05-07 06:45 am (UTC)I noticed that you have come out as autism spectrum, a motion whose courage I appreciate and applaud.
I wished to write you as I've recently been through a process of questioning myself as regards neurovariance. I have spent the last six months in research, introspection, and peer-confirmation.
You are one of the few people left who knew me all the way back in my first life. I can today barely remember that life, after so many changes and so many intervening existences, and find it difficult to get an objective measure of myself. I wanted to talk to you as one of the few people who might be able to help.
You once poetically replied to some verse I had written, painting an accurate picture of civilisation's structural injustice and asking in moral frustration what it was I didn't understand. I think I now have an answer.
On a matter which may seem unrelated but proved decisively so, I've stared into the face of the Ecopocalypse. Everything is different.
Would you talk with me?
Alice Raizel.
