Why. The. Fuck. does the state persecute environmentalists while subsidizing environmental destruction - where the profits go to the few and the costs go to all?
It's mind-blowingly stupid. An effective parasite has the sense to preserve its host. But the ruling class does not show any interest in preserving the people or the earth we all live on.
The state will not take one step to preserve the environment, humanity, and itself, but it will devote resources to make sure no one else acts. The state, as an institution, appears capable of paranoia, but not of forethought.

PARIS - Despite repeated warnings by environmental and climate experts that reduction of fossil fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions is fundamental to forestalling global warming, disaster appears imminent. According to the latest statistics, unprecedented climate change has Earth hurtling down a path of catastrophic proportions.
Why. The. Fuck. do people keep letting this get worse?

"The state" is not at fault. The U.S. state is, but the governments of Germany and Britain are taking climate change seriously. There is no evil centre of wealth and power surrounded by an innocent periphery. This is an illusion maintained by those who wish to sanctify their peripheral stance or condition, or who romanticise those who are peripheral. The privileged are no better or worse, they're merely human, merely fortunately human.
The reason most do not take action is that they do not believe that they can individually accomplish anything but do expect to be asked to make useless personal sacrifices if they speak up.
The fortunate in this world would rather enjoy life. They have friends, or careers, or sex lives, or material things they want or have or hope for. The majority who constitute the wretched of the Earth are too pressed by necessity to care, and their minds are usually too embedded in irrational religious and cultural purposes to acquire any kind of rational or independent voice. Mostly, they believe in myths and mirages because they cannor bear the truth that their starvation in the desert has no transcendant meaning and is followed only be death.
In the United States, the additional problem is that you live in a declining civilisation which has gone institutionally mad.
You cannot solve this problem because people healthy people want happiness more than justice and unhealthy people are enthused to love injustice as justice.
