I have severe sensory processing issues.
Flashing lights and loud noises can be painful, dazzling, disorienting, and completely incapacitating. I am unable to use phones, public transportation, etc., because they are not accessible.
Nw construction will start near my apartment, possibly as early as the 19th. I have less than a week to find a way to survive the sensory bombardment.
Backup beepers are particularly nasty. Backup beepers can hammer me to the ground, at as much as half a mile, through ear protectors and ear plugs. Backup beepers leave me unable to do anything but curl up, scream in agony, and hope to die.
I have some protection as long as I’m inside. I can grab ear protectors and dash to the bathroom putting an extra wall between me and the pain. I would be completey exposed, though, if I’m outside, even with the best protection I can wear.
I have tried to get medical help, but no diagnosis, and few helpful survival strategies so far.
I have had a blood test ruling out Lyme, another ruling out lupus, and an mri ruling out multiple sclerosis, a tumor, etc.
I think some occupational therapists may be able to help, but I live i the states and I can’t use phones, so it’s hard to find out who can, and to get a referral.
I know moving out could help, but with all my disabilities, including allergies, it'd be hard to figure out accessibility, prepare safe food, etc.
