A touch of transhumanism?
Mar. 17th, 2011 11:36 pmI am feeling sick right now, so while I'm trying to relax and rest and recover, I am wishing the human body worked better. So in my totally-unbiased opinion: :p
1. We shouldn't have to get sick.
2. The present system tends to exaggerate the biological divisions between the sexes. For the same reasons we try to abolish the culturally-constructed differences between genders, I think we should also seek to narrow the biological differences between sexes, and oppose efforts to widen the differences.
3. And what's with the idea that men don't need nipples? Everyone needs nipples!
4. The effort to narrow the biological differences between the sexes should generally try to keep both sexes nearer the default which, in mammals, is near the female form. Of course, this principle avoids the possibility of bias towards any one sex-type. But who could object to bias toward femaleness?
5. Everyone needs high enough hormone levels to sustain healthy bone and muscle mass, halt growth during puberty, and so on.
6. Everyone should have hormones which intensify their senses and emotions, to better appreciate life.
7. Everyone should be capable of nursing children, and possibly also bearing them if external wombs are not available.
8. Nobody should have to deal with dangly genitalia. External genitalia should be small and/or retractable.
9. It would take to long to discuss all the other variations, but the general principles should be clear.
